
Software Engineer II – Porch Group: hiring Freshers

Role Overview:
As a Software Engineer II at Porch Group, you will:
- Work within a cross-functional team to design, build, and maintain scalable systems for extracting and processing property attribute data.
- Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and data labeling teams to interpret and extract meaningful property attributes.
- Write backend services that are well-tested, reliable, and maintainable, following Porch’s engineering best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and help drive long-term code quality.
- Get hands-on exposure to microservice architecture and cloud environments. Remotive
- Document technical decisions, service workflows, and share knowledge with the team.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Around 2–4 years in software development.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in SQL, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Experience with a JVM language (Scala preferred).
- Familiarity with data-science concepts, information extraction, and data labeling.
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), event-driven systems (Kafka), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to interpret ambiguous requirements and make them executable.
- Comfortable working across time zones (Porch works with US-based business teams in some roles).
